I love when my kids take a nap during the day because this means I can have a few quiet moments to myself. We have/or had a nice routine going...take Kylee to school for the afternoon, come home put Chase down for a nap and then I have a couple of hours to myself...it was lovely until this week. Chase has decided he doesn't need to take a nap anymore...or he has to fight with you for 30 minutes(or longer) until he decides he is tired enough to lay down and nap. I don't why he has started this...maybe because spring is in the air and he would rather be doing something else, but I really need him to take a nap...I have started working out with some ladies from my ward at 5:00 a.m. so this nap time is vital to me...well vital to everyone in the family...I am not ready for him to give up naps yet...I made Kylee take naps until she was 4, but I don't think Chase will be as easy going about it...any ideas??

Well... my advice is not exactly nice and sweet... I'm super strict about this one! I still have Ammon take naps and he's 4 1/2!!! If he's in a great mood I just tell him it's quiet time (usually he'll fall asleep anyway) If he's a crank and I need him to go down I just tell him it's nap time and to go lay down NOW. There is no choice. Sometimes he goes in and screams his head off. He tells me I'm mean and that he's not going to love me or hug me or anything EVER EVER again. I just ignore him. It usually takes about 5 minutes and then he's out. When he wakes up he's like a new kid. Don't give up on this!!! It's so important!
That is such a terrible time, when the kids decide they don't need naps. I don't do anything other than wait it out. IF they want to lay in their bed for an hour before they fall asleep-more power to them. Abbi has 'quiet time' in her bed. She can take a toy or two but she has to stay quiet and on her bed. She usually falls asleep, but if not, I get a couple hours of 'quiet time'.
